The Bridging The Gap Food Pantry

What We Do..

The Bridging The Gap (In The Gap) program is committed to helping the food insecure by providing a food pantry that is available to those individuals whose salaries are between  151-186% of the poverty guidelines. This pantry houses foods that are both non-allergen and allergen friendly. Additionally, we provide in school child snack boxes.

Our Program

Adequate food is essential to the wellbeing of our community. In The Gap is an active non-profit organization that operates as a food pantry with a child feeding program. Our food pantry distributes food to residents of Oconee County. Our child feeding program which consists of juice bags and snacks is distributed to food insecure children in Oconee, Anderson, Pickens and Greenville counties. Our primary goal is to ensure that individuals whose incomes fall between the 151-186th percentile of the federal poverty guidelines have access to food and remain stable and healthy. We specialize in diet specific foods that help to improve the quality of life in those individuals who struggle with arthritis, diabetes, autoimmune conditions and food allergies and intolerances.

Product Rescue

We rescue food that is past its sell-by date from grocery stores and restaurants. We partner with area grocery stores and restaurants. Striving to make it available to people and communities across the country. Repurposing rescued produce allows us to both curb food waste and address food insecurity!

Why We Do It...

We are committed to assisting the working who are making too much money to receive typical food assistance but too little to sustain themselves and their families. We also seek to assist those individuals who need to adhere to restrictive diets for optimal health.

The cost of food has risen drastically over the last few years making it difficult for families to provide for themselves.

Healthy Food

Why We Care?

Further, it is our belief that allergen-friendly foods are significantly more expensive thus causing many individuals to be forced to choose between purchasing medications, paying rent, car insurance et al. The cost of gluten-free food is 240% more expensive than standard food and dairy-free food is 75% higher than non-dairy food. This problem is compounded when comorbidity is present such as a gluten-free/dairy-free diet.

HOW WE GET FUNDING

In The Gap depends on grants, corporate donors, product rescue, and community support by way of monetary and food donations.

Donations submitted through donation forms on this site are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law and are processed in U.S. dollars. In The Gap Foundation is a U.S. nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization (tax identification number 83-4339998) under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code
